- Final Verdict: Is Wondershare Recoverit Worth It?
Recoverit appears to follow the same simple formula as most consumer data recovery software. Select the location where your files disappeared, let the application scan it, preview what it finds, and recover the useful files to another drive.
The software becomes more interesting when the lost files are photographs or videos.
Wondershare has built much of Recoverit’s identity around SD cards, cameras, drones, GoPro devices, fragmented video, damaged media files, and high-resolution footage. The Premium edition can search for scattered video fragments, combine them into playable files, and attempt to repair recovered photos, videos, and documents that will not open normally. It also adds Linux, NAS, and supported RAID recovery.
That breadth is Recoverit’s main advantage. Its pricing is the main problem.
Wondershare currently shows different prices, device limits, free allowances, and plan presentations across its own official pages. One page lists Essential, Standard, and Premium annual plans. Another promotes discounted monthly, annual, and perpetual Premium licenses. The current Free page advertises 500MB of free recovery, while older text still visible on some official purchase pages says 100MB.
That does not make Recoverit illegitimate, but it means buyers need to read the exact checkout page rather than relying on a price seen elsewhere on the website.
For ordinary deleted documents, Recoverit Essential may be enough. Standard becomes useful when the computer will not start. Premium is the real reason to choose Recoverit over a simpler alternative, especially when the recovery involves video, camera storage, Linux disks, NAS devices, or supported RAID setups.
Wondershare Recoverit: Quick Summary
Wondershare Recoverit is one of the better consumer recovery applications for photos, video, cameras, drones, and SD cards. Its Premium edition has a wider media focus than EaseUS or Disk Drill and is easier to approach than R-Studio or PhotoRec. However, the free allowance, pricing, plan names, device counts, and perpetual-license terms should be checked carefully at checkout because Wondershare’s own pages do not always match.

What Is Wondershare Recoverit?
Wondershare Recoverit is data recovery software for Windows and macOS. It searches readable storage devices for deleted files, missing directory information, formatted data, lost partitions, damaged file systems, and recognizable file signatures.
It can work with internal hard drives, SSDs, external drives, USB flash drives, memory cards, cameras, drones, action cameras, disk images, encrypted storage, crashed computers, supported NAS systems, Linux disks, and certain RAID scenarios. The higher editions also include tools for repairing damaged media and documents after recovery.
The basic workflow is:
- Choose a device, drive, folder, Recycle Bin, disk image, or recovery category.
- Run a scan.
- Filter and preview the results.
- Select the files you need.
- Save them to another physical drive.
Recoverit is designed for people who do not want to configure sector sizes, partition offsets, scan regions, or file-system parameters. That makes it easier to approach than R-Studio and TestDisk, although advanced users receive less direct control over the recovery process.
It is still only a logical recovery application. Recoverit can read data from a device that remains stable and detectable. It cannot replace damaged hard-drive heads, repair burned electronics, fix a broken connector, or safely open a sealed hard drive.
How We Reviewed Wondershare Recoverit
This review is based on researched product analysis. It does not claim that TinyQuip performed a controlled recovery test across a laboratory collection of drives.
We checked Wondershare’s current Free edition page, Windows and Mac product pages, edition-comparison stores, dedicated Premium stores, technical specifications, user guides, renewal information, refund rules, support resources, device coverage, file-system support, disk-image features, media-repair tools, and recovery limitations.
We also compared Recoverit with:
- EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard
- Disk Drill
- Stellar Data Recovery
- R-Studio
- Ontrack EasyRecovery
- Recuva
- TestDisk
- PhotoRec
Wondershare advertises a 99.5% recovery rate. We have not used that marketing figure as a performance score because there is no single recovery rate that applies to every drive, file system, deletion method, or storage condition. Wondershare’s own recovery guidance acknowledges that files cannot be restored when their directory information or underlying content has been overwritten or otherwise destroyed.
The practical test is much simpler: does Recoverit preview the exact file you need from your actual device?

What Can Wondershare Recoverit Recover?
Recoverit is built for logical data loss. These are situations where the data is inaccessible, deleted, or structurally damaged, but the storage device can still be read by a computer.
Accidentally deleted files
Recoverit can search for files removed from folders, the Windows Recycle Bin, macOS Trash, external drives, memory cards, and other readable storage locations.
Deleting a file normally removes or changes its file-system entry before the original content is overwritten. This creates a limited recovery window.
The recovery chance falls every time new information is written to the same drive. Browsing, downloading, installing software, updating the operating system, editing files, and even normal background activity can reuse the storage blocks that held the deleted file.
Stop using the affected device as soon as the loss is noticed.
Emptied Recycle Bin or Trash
Files removed from the Recycle Bin or Trash may still be recoverable when the original storage blocks remain intact.
Recoverit can scan the original drive for directory traces and file signatures. When the original file-system information survives, the software may preserve names, folder locations, and dates. When that information is gone, files may return under reconstructed categories with generic names.
Formatted drives and memory cards
Recoverit supports formatted hard drives, SSDs, USB drives, and memory cards.
A quick format often rebuilds file-system structures without deliberately overwriting every data block. This can leave recoverable content behind. A secure erase, complete overwrite, or storage-level reset is much harder or impossible to reverse.
After formatting, original folder structures may be missing. Recoverit may identify photographs, videos, documents, archives, and audio files by their internal signatures instead.
Lost and damaged partitions
Recoverit can scan lost, deleted, RAW, inaccessible, and damaged partitions. Its supported file-system list includes common Windows, Mac, Linux, and removable-storage formats.
A partition can disappear after:
- Accidental deletion
- Failed resizing
- Repartitioning
- Operating-system installation
- Corrupted partition metadata
- Power loss
- Malware
- Improper disk-management changes
Recoverit generally focuses on extracting files rather than repairing the partition in place. This is safer for beginners than writing a new partition table without understanding the existing layout.
RAW or unrecognized drives
Windows may label a damaged partition as RAW when it cannot identify a valid file system.
The operating system may then ask to format the drive. Do not accept that prompt when important data remains on the device.
Recoverit can scan RAW, undetected, unrecognized, or corrupted volumes for usable file-system traces and file signatures.
External drives and USB storage
Recoverit supports external HDDs, external SSDs, USB flash drives, pen drives, memory sticks, and other removable storage devices. Its technical specifications list common FAT, exFAT, NTFS, HFS, and APFS scenarios.
The device must remain stable during scanning. A drive that repeatedly disconnects should not be forced through multiple long scans.
Encrypted storage
Recoverit advertises recovery from BitLocker drives and modern Apple storage protected by Apple security and hardware encryption. The storage normally needs to be unlocked with the correct password, recovery key, or account credentials.
Recoverit does not crack passwords or bypass properly implemented encryption.
OneDrive and iCloud locations
Recent Recoverit pages promote recovery workflows involving OneDrive on Windows and iCloud on Mac.
Before using recovery software, check:
- OneDrive Recycle Bin
- OneDrive version history
- iCloud Recently Deleted
- Local synchronized folders
- Windows File History
- macOS Time Machine
Cloud services may retain a recoverable server-side copy even when the local copy is gone.

When Recoverit Probably Cannot Help
Recoverit can only extract data that is still readable. It cannot recreate information that no longer exists.
The data has been overwritten
A deleted filename can remain visible even after the file content has been partially or completely replaced.
This can produce a recovered file that:
- Has the correct name but will not open
- Shows the expected size but contains unrelated data
- Opens with missing sections
- Produces extraction errors
- Plays only part of a video
- Displays a damaged photograph
- Returns as an empty file
Wondershare explains that flawless recovery requires both the directory information and the stored file content to remain intact.
SSD TRIM has cleared deleted blocks
Recovery from an SSD is less predictable than recovery from a traditional hard drive.
TRIM allows the operating system to tell the SSD that certain deleted blocks are no longer needed. The SSD can then clear or reuse those blocks internally. Once this happens, normal recovery software cannot rebuild the deleted data.
Recoverit can scan SSDs, but SSD support should not be confused with guaranteed deleted-file recovery. Wondershare’s own current guidance notes that SSD recovery is less predictable because TRIM, encryption, and background cleanup can remove deleted information quickly.
The device is physically damaged
Stop scanning when a drive:
- Clicks or grinds
- Repeatedly spins up and stops
- Becomes unusually hot
- Produces a burning smell
- Disconnects during normal access
- Disappears during every scan
- Has suffered impact, fire, or water damage
- Has a broken USB or SATA connector
Recoverit’s marketing sometimes uses phrases such as damaged hard-drive recovery, but software recovery is suitable only when the damage is logical or the device remains sufficiently readable. Wondershare’s support content advises professional diagnosis for clicking or repeatedly disconnecting drives.
The files were securely erased
Secure-erasure software deliberately overwrites data or sends storage-level erase instructions.
Recoverit, EaseUS, Disk Drill, R-Studio, Recuva, and PhotoRec cannot reconstruct properly erased content.
Encryption keys are unavailable
Recoverit can scan supported encrypted storage after it is unlocked. It cannot replace a missing BitLocker recovery key, Apple account credential, or hardware-encryption password.
The missing video fragments no longer exist
Recoverit Premium can search for scattered video fragments and attempt to reassemble them. That is useful when a camera stored the recording across different areas of a card.
It cannot reconstruct footage after those fragments have been overwritten. Media repair can fix structure, headers, indexes, and some forms of corruption, but it cannot invent missing scenes.
Installation and Safe First Steps
Recoverit uses a normal Windows or Mac installer.
The biggest installation mistake is placing it on the same drive that contains the deleted files.
Installing software creates new files, temporary data, logs, and system changes. Any of those writes can overwrite the data you are trying to recover.
For an external drive or SD card, install Recoverit on the computer’s internal drive and scan the external device.
For a computer’s internal system drive, the safer process is:
- Stop using the computer.
- Shut it down.
- Connect the affected drive to another computer when practical.
- Install Recoverit on the healthy computer.
- Create a disk image when the source is unstable but readable.
- Recover files to a separate destination drive.
Wondershare repeatedly advises saving recovered files to a different drive rather than the source device.

Interface and Ease of Use
Recoverit has one of the more approachable interfaces in the category.
Its home screen is organised around familiar locations and recovery tasks rather than advanced disk terminology. Depending on the platform and edition, users may see:
- Hard drives and locations
- Recycle Bin or Trash
- Desktop
- Selected folders
- External devices
- SD-card recovery
- Disk-image recovery
- Crashed-computer recovery
- NAS recovery
- Linux recovery
- Enhanced photo and video recovery
- File repair
The user selects a location, and the software begins scanning. Results appear while the scan is still running, allowing filters and previews to be used before completion.
This makes Recoverit easier to use than R-Studio, TestDisk, and PhotoRec.
The main confusion does not come from the interface. It comes from the product plans. A user may complete a scan without understanding whether Essential, Standard, or Premium is required to finish the particular recovery.
Quick Scan and Deep Scan
Recoverit uses both file-system information and raw file signatures.
Quick Scan
A quick scan is best for recent deletions when the original file-system records remain available.
This method has the best chance of preserving:
- Original filenames
- Folder structure
- Timestamps
- File paths
- Other metadata
It normally runs faster because it does not need to search every readable storage area for every supported file signature.
Deep Scan
A deep scan searches more thoroughly through the storage device. It can identify data by file signatures even when the original folder information is damaged or missing.
This is useful for:
- Formatted drives
- RAW volumes
- Lost partitions
- Damaged file systems
- Older deletions
- Files not found by the faster scan
The trade-off is a longer scan and less organised results. Wondershare’s current guidance notes that signature-based recovery may return unnamed files with reduced folder structure and metadata.

Filtering and Previewing Recoverable Files
Recoverit allows users to filter scan results by properties such as file type, size, date, and location. Results can also be searched by filename or extension.
This is necessary because a full scan can return thousands of files, old duplicates, cached media, temporary documents, thumbnails, and unrelated deleted data.
Recoverit supports previews for many documents, photographs, videos, audio files, email formats, and other file types. Preview support varies by format, file condition, and size. Its technical page lists extensive document, photo, video, audio, and email support while also noting preview-size limits for certain miscellaneous formats.
Before paying, preview more than one file:
- Check files from different folders.
- Inspect both small and large files.
- Preview several photographs at full available resolution.
- Check the beginning, middle, and end of an important video.
- Confirm that filenames and folders remain usable.
- Compare multiple versions of the same file.
- Look for files recovered through both file-system and signature scans.
A working thumbnail does not always prove that the full-resolution file remains intact.
Disk-Image Recovery
Recoverit can create or scan disk-image files.
A disk image is a sector-level copy of the readable storage space. It is different from copying visible folders because it preserves sectors that may contain deleted data, damaged directory information, or old partitions.
Working from an image has two advantages.
First, the original device does not need to be scanned repeatedly.
Second, the image preserves a point-in-time copy that can be tested with different recovery methods.
Recoverit allows recovery from previously created disk images and can create an image for later scanning.
The destination needs enough available storage for the image. A 4TB source drive may require close to 4TB of destination space, even when the visible files use much less.
A disk image is not a cure for severe physical failure. A clicking drive should not be pushed through a full multi-hour image using ordinary consumer software.
SD-Card and Camera Recovery
This is one of Recoverit’s strongest areas.
The software supports common memory-card formats and devices, including:
- SD, SDHC, and SDXC cards
- microSD cards
- CF and related camera cards
- Digital cameras
- GoPro cameras
- Drones
- Action cameras
- Camcorders
- Dash cameras
- DVR and surveillance devices
- Audio and video recorders
Its technical specifications mention camera and memory-card support across numerous device types, while the current product guide specifically promotes recovery from Sony, Canon, Fujifilm, GoPro, drone, and other digital-media devices.
Recoverit is particularly useful when a card has been:
- Accidentally formatted
- Removed during recording
- Used in multiple devices
- Corrupted after power loss
- Made unreadable
- Partially overwritten
- Damaged at the file-system level
Stop using the card immediately. A camera may create new folders, databases, thumbnails, or media files simply by being switched on.
Enhanced Photo and Video Recovery
Recoverit Premium includes enhanced recovery for photographs and video.
Ordinary signature recovery may identify the beginning of a video file without correctly locating every fragment. This can produce a video that refuses to open, plays only partially, or contains severe corruption.
Recoverit’s enhanced recovery is designed to:
- Search for video fragments
- Identify fragments created by the same recording
- Match and combine related pieces
- Restore large 4K and 8K recordings
- Handle footage from cameras, drones, and action cameras
- Attempt reconstruction before the final file is saved
Wondershare describes this as patented fragment scanning and matching technology for deeply hidden and large video files.
The feature can be valuable for videographers because large recordings are often fragmented across a memory card rather than stored in one continuous section.
It still depends on the original fragments remaining readable. If half of the recording has been overwritten, software cannot rebuild the missing footage.
Photo, Video, and Document Repair
Premium also includes repair tools for files that have been recovered but do not open normally.
The repair workflow is separate from recovery:
- Recover the file to a healthy drive.
- Preserve an untouched copy.
- Test whether it opens.
- Run standard repair.
- Use advanced repair with a sample file when required.
- Save the repaired version separately.
Recoverit can use a healthy sample created by the same device and format to guide advanced repair for severely damaged media.
Repair may help with:
- Broken file headers
- Damaged indexes
- Incorrect video container information
- Missing structural metadata
- Some forms of playback corruption
- Damaged document structures
- Partially readable photographs
Repair cannot restore portions that were never recovered.
This feature gives Recoverit an advantage over Disk Drill, R-Studio, Recuva, TestDisk, and PhotoRec for users who need both recovery and post-recovery repair in one application.
Crashed-Computer Recovery
Recoverit Standard and Premium include bootable recovery tools.
When Windows or macOS will not start, the software can create a bootable USB drive on another functioning computer. The affected computer is then started from that USB so its internal storage can be accessed without loading the damaged operating system normally.
This is useful after:
- Operating-system corruption
- Failed updates
- Boot failures
- Blue-screen errors
- Damaged system files
- Accidental system-partition changes
It cannot solve a physically failed internal drive.
The bootable tool is the primary difference between Essential and Standard. Buyers dealing with a healthy external drive or memory card usually do not need Standard for this feature.
NAS Recovery
Recoverit Premium supports recovery from certain NAS devices.
Wondershare promotes remote NAS recovery without removing the disks from the enclosure. The software connects to supported NAS systems and scans accessible storage through the network.
This can be useful for Synology, QNAP, and other supported servers experiencing:
- Accidental file deletion
- Damaged shared folders
- File-system corruption
- Logical RAID problems
- Missing data on accessible volumes
NAS recovery is more complicated than scanning an ordinary USB drive. The configuration may involve multiple disks, RAID metadata, snapshots, encryption, network access, and vendor-specific storage systems.
Check built-in NAS snapshots and recycle bins before purchasing recovery software. A snapshot may restore files more safely and quickly than a full recovery scan.
Linux Recovery
Recoverit Premium supports Linux-related file systems, including EXT4, BTRFS, XFS, and BFS according to the current product pages.
Its wider file-system documentation also lists combinations of:
- FAT16 and FAT32
- exFAT
- NTFS
- ReFS
- HFS and HFS+
- Encrypted HFS
- HFSX
- APFS
- EXT4
- BTRFS
- XFS
- BFS
Recoverit runs on Windows or Mac rather than as a native Linux desktop application. Linux disks or devices are connected or accessed through a supported workflow for scanning.
Technically experienced Linux users may still prefer R-Studio, TestDisk, PhotoRec, ddrescue, or native tools because they provide more control.
RAID Recovery
Premium’s official feature list includes recovery from RAID corruption.
This should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every failed RAID can be reconstructed automatically.
RAID recovery depends on:
- RAID level
- Number of member disks
- Disk order
- Stripe size
- Missing drives
- Controller metadata
- File system
- Whether a rebuild was attempted
- Whether multiple drives failed
- Physical condition of every member disk
A wrong rebuild can overwrite useful RAID metadata and make the recovery substantially harder.
Recoverit may be appropriate for a logically damaged but accessible supported array. A business-critical array with multiple failing disks is better handled by a professional recovery service or a specialist using imaging hardware.

Recoverit Free
The dedicated Recoverit V14 Free page currently advertises 500MB of free recovery on Windows and Mac.
However, FAQ text still visible on some official purchasing pages says the Free edition is limited to 100MB on Windows.
The newer dedicated Free page is the stronger current signal, but this inconsistency should not be ignored. Download the application and check the allowance displayed inside your installed version before relying on 500MB.
Even 500MB is mainly useful for:
- Documents
- PDFs
- Spreadsheets
- Small photo collections
- Email files
- A limited number of compressed images
It is unlikely to cover a long 4K video, large archive, RAW photo shoot, disk image, or full project folder.
Recoverit Essential
Essential provides unlimited normal recovery from hard drives, external devices, SD cards, USB storage, disk images, and supported locations.
It is the sensible edition for:
- Accidental deletion
- Formatted cards
- RAW drives
- External-drive recovery
- Missing files on a working computer
- Standard photo and document recovery
It does not include bootable crashed-computer recovery or Premium’s media-repair and NAS/Linux tools.
Recoverit Standard
Standard contains everything in Essential and adds crashed-computer recovery through bootable media.
Choose it when:
- Windows or macOS will not start
- The internal drive remains readable
- You need to create a bootable USB
- You cannot remove the internal drive easily
The upgrade offers little extra value when the source is a normal external drive or memory card.
Recoverit Premium
Premium includes the broadest consumer toolset:
- Normal file recovery
- Crashed-computer recovery
- NAS recovery
- Linux recovery
- Supported RAID recovery
- Enhanced photo and video recovery
- Video-fragment scanning and merging
- Corrupted video repair
- Photo repair
- Document repair
Premium is the most compelling Recoverit edition, but only for users who need those specific tools.

| APFS and HFS | Connected or supported recovery scenarios | Native Mac recovery workflows |
| S.M.A.R.T. monitoring | Feature availability varies | Promoted on the Mac hard-drive page |
The current Mac product page promotes support for modern macOS releases, while older technical pages still list earlier operating systems. Verify compatibility with the current installer rather than relying on an older static specification page.
Mac pricing is generally higher. Premium’s annual list price is $40 above Windows on the edition-comparison pages, although the dedicated promotional Premium pages currently narrow the difference to $10.
Recovery Performance and Real-World Expectations
Recoverit can find a large number of files without every result being usable.
| Scan result | What it may mean |
|---|---|
| Original filename and folder appear | File-system metadata may remain intact |
| File appears under a reconstructed category | Recoverit found it by signature and may not have the original metadata |
| Full preview works | Recovery has a stronger chance of producing a usable file |
| Only a thumbnail appears | The original high-resolution file may still be missing |
| File has the expected size but does not open | Some internal blocks may be overwritten or corrupted |
| Video plays only at the beginning | Later fragments may be missing |
| Repaired file opens but has visual damage | Structure was repaired, but some content could not be restored |
| Deep scan finds many unnamed files | The original directory structure may have been destroyed |
| File is 0KB | The directory record survived, but the content may be gone |
Video recovery deserves additional checking. Do not test only the first few seconds. Move through the complete timeline and look for missing frames, freezes, audio loss, and incorrect duration.
- For an archive, extract every file.
- A database, open it in the original application.
- A document, inspect multiple pages and embedded media.

Is Wondershare Recoverit Safe?
Recoverit is safe to download from the official Wondershare website.
Wondershare states that the software performs read-only scans and does not intentionally modify the original files on the source drive. The current Free page and recovery guidance also recommend saving restored data to another device.
The larger risks come from how recovery software is used.
For safer recovery:
- Download only from Wondershare.
- Avoid cracked installers and license keys.
- Stop using the affected drive.
- Do not install Recoverit on the source drive when avoidable.
- Do not run CHKDSK, First Aid, or formatting before recovery.
- Create an image before repeatedly scanning an unstable drive.
- Save the results to another physical device.
- Stop when physical damage is suspected.
Recoverit can perform recovery locally rather than requiring files to be uploaded. This is preferable for confidential documents, although online support, remote sessions, cloud features, or uploaded repair functions may create different privacy considerations.
Wondershare Recoverit Pricing
Recoverit’s pricing requires more explanation than its competitors because different official pages currently display different offers.
Annual edition pricing
The main edition-comparison pages show the following annual prices:

- Promotional pricing
- Different landing-page offers
- Different device allowances
- Different checkout bundles
- Regional variations
- Newer and older store designs
Wondershare also displays optional add-ons on some checkout pages. One current store page promotes a separate AI photo application trial that converts to a weekly subscription unless cancelled.

Which Recoverit Plan Offers the Best Value?
Choose Free when:
You need no more than the allowance shown inside the current application and the required files preview correctly.
It can be enough for documents and smaller images, but not for serious media recovery.
Choose Essential when:
The computer still works and you are recovering from:
- A normal hard drive
- An external drive
- A USB device
- An SD card
- A formatted drive
- A RAW volume
- A disk image
Essential is the best-value edition for ordinary recovery.
Choose Standard when:
The affected Windows PC or Mac will not boot, and you need bootable recovery media.
Standard’s main purpose is crashed-computer recovery. Paying for it makes little sense when the source is an external drive that already appears in the working operating system.
Choose Premium when:
You need one or more of the following:
- Fragmented video reconstruction
- Photo repair
- Video repair
- Document repair
- NAS recovery
- Linux recovery
- Supported RAID recovery
- Camera, drone, GoPro, or action-camera workflows
- Recovery across two computers under the current promotional offer
Premium is the plan that separates Recoverit from most general consumer recovery products.
Annual vs Perpetual Premium Cost
Using the current dedicated Premium promotional pricing:
Windows
| Usage period | Annual plan | Perpetual license | Better value |
|---|---|---|---|
| One year | $69.99 | $129.99 | Annual |
| Two years | $139.98 | $129.99 | Perpetual saves $9.99 |
| Three years | $209.97 | $129.99 | Perpetual saves $79.98 |
| Five years | $349.95 | $129.99 | Perpetual saves $219.96 |
Mac
| Usage period | Annual plan | Perpetual license | Better value |
|---|---|---|---|
| One year | $79.99 | $139.99 | Annual |
| Two years | $159.98 | $139.99 | Perpetual saves $19.99 |
| Three years | $239.97 | $139.99 | Perpetual saves $99.98 |
| Five years | $399.95 | $139.99 | Perpetual saves $259.96 |
The perpetual plan becomes cheaper during the second year.
However, Wondershare’s main store explains that a perpetual purchase may cover the purchased major version and updates within that version, without upgrades to future major releases. Another dedicated page uses broader “lifetime” wording.
Confirm the upgrade entitlement in the final checkout terms.

Subscription Renewal and Cancellation
Recoverit’s monthly, quarterly, and annual licenses automatically renew unless cancelled.
Wondershare says renewal can be managed through the user’s account and that an email notice is sent before renewal on applicable plans.
Cancelling renewal normally stops the next charge. It does not automatically issue a refund for the current subscription period.
After buying:
- Save the purchase email.
- Sign in to the Wondershare Account Center.
- Check the next renewal date.
- Cancel renewal immediately when the product is needed only once.
- Save the cancellation confirmation.
A one-time recovery emergency can easily turn into another annual charge when renewal is forgotten.
Refund Policy
Recoverit has a shorter refund window than most ordinary Wondershare products.
Wondershare provides up to seven days for its data recovery products because recovery software can complete its intended task immediately after purchase. Refund requests must meet the accepted conditions in the policy.
The store describes the guarantee as applying when a solution to the problem cannot be found.
Do not treat this as an unconditional seven-day trial.
Refunds may be limited when:
- The software completed the intended recovery
- The request is based on a change of mind
- The buyer selected the wrong product without evaluating the trial
- Technical support can provide a reasonable solution
- The request is outside the guarantee period
- The purchase involved another seller
- The issue concerns a renewal rather than the original purchase
- The user refuses troubleshooting
- The result is limited by overwritten or unrecoverable data
Scan and preview before paying.

Customer Support
Wondershare provides a Recoverit support centre, instant live chat, email support, product guides, renewal help, purchase support, troubleshooting articles, and response commitments shown on its store pages.
The Premium and Standard stores state that support representatives are available through chat and that email responses are generally provided within 24 hours.
Support can help with:
- Activation
- Missing devices
- Scan problems
- Bootable media
- Plan selection
- Subscription cancellation
- Repair workflows
- Recovering from a saved scan
- Refund requests
Support cannot recover overwritten blocks or repair a severely damaged drive remotely.

Recoverit vs EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard
- Choose Recoverit for media-heavy recovery. Premium is more focused on fragmented video, camera footage, photo repair, video repair, Linux, and NAS recovery.
- Choose EaseUS for a simpler consumer plan. Its paid product structure is easier to understand, even though Windows and Mac licenses are sold separately.
- EaseUS promotes a larger free allowance. It offers 500MB initially and up to 2GB after sharing, while Recoverit’s current dedicated Free page promotes 500MB.
- Recoverit’s Premium promotion may cover more devices. The current dedicated offer covers two PCs or Macs, but the edition-comparison pages show one-device licenses.

Recoverit vs Disk Drill
- Choose Recoverit for video and file repair. Disk Drill does not place the same emphasis on reconstructed video, photo repair, document repair, or NAS/Linux recovery.
- Choose Disk Drill for licensing clarity. One PRO license covers Windows and macOS with up to three activations.
- Disk Drill has stronger preventive utilities. Its Recovery Vault, Guaranteed Recovery, byte-to-byte imaging, and drive-monitoring tools make it useful after the emergency.
- Recoverit offers more standard free recovery. Its current 500MB promotion is larger than Disk Drill’s 100MB Windows allowance.

Recoverit vs Stellar Data Recovery
- Choose Recoverit Premium for camera and fragmented-video workflows. Its positioning is especially strong for drones, GoPro devices, action cameras, and media repair.
- Choose Stellar when you want more precise feature tiers. Professional separates partition, imaging, and bootable recovery, while Premium adds media repair.
- Stellar offers a larger Free allowance. Its standard Free edition supports up to 1GB, although limits and plan details should still be checked.
- Both can become confusing. Stellar has many editions, while Wondershare has inconsistent official pricing and device counts.

Recoverit vs R-Studio
- Choose R-Studio for technical control. It is stronger for experienced users who need custom scan regions, RAID reconstruction, network recovery, imaging, and unusual file systems.
- Choose Recoverit for ease of use. Its guided workflow requires fewer technical decisions.
- R-Studio provides strong permanent-license value. Its personal license starts close to the annual cost of Recoverit Essential.
- Recoverit is better for integrated media repair. It combines recovery, fragment reconstruction, and repair in one interface.
Recoverit vs Recuva
- Try Recuva first for a simple Windows deletion. It may recover ordinary deleted files without Recoverit’s free-volume limit.
- Choose Recoverit for formatting, RAW drives, Mac, cameras, crashed computers, Linux, NAS, and media repair.
- Recuva is cheaper and simpler. It is a focused Windows undelete tool rather than a complete recovery suite.
- Recoverit is more suitable when the loss is complicated. Its higher price pays for broader device coverage and guided workflows.
Recoverit vs TestDisk and PhotoRec
- TestDisk and PhotoRec are free and open source. TestDisk focuses on partitions and supported undelete operations, while PhotoRec recovers files through signatures.
- Choose Recoverit for a visual interface. It provides previews, filters, media categories, scan progress, repair tools, and customer support.
- PhotoRec may return files without their original names or folders.
- TestDisk requires more care. Some of its functions alter partition or boot information, which can be risky for inexperienced users.

Frequently Asked Questions [FAQs]
Yes. Recoverit is an established commercial data recovery application developed by Wondershare for Windows and macOS. Download it from the official Wondershare website rather than an unofficial software portal or cracked installer.
Recoverit has a Free edition. Its current dedicated Free page promotes recovery of up to 500MB. However, some older text still visible on official buying pages mentions a 100MB Windows limit, so check the allowance displayed in the installed application.
The current edition-comparison page lists Windows Essential at $69.99 per year, Standard at $79.99, and Premium at $99.99. A separate Premium promotion currently shows $59.99 monthly, $69.99 annually, or $129.99 perpetual for two Windows PCs.
The Mac edition-comparison page lists Essential at $79.99 per year, Standard at $99.99, and Premium at $139.99. The dedicated Premium page currently shows promotional prices of $75.99 monthly, $79.99 annually, or $139.99 perpetual for two Macs.
Different official pages may show list pricing, promotional offers, different computer limits, alternative bundles, regional pricing, or older store information. The final checkout page is the price and license configuration that matters.
Monthly, quarterly, and annual Recoverit subscriptions include automatic renewal unless cancelled. Perpetual plans are shown as one-time purchases.
Recoverit provides an up-to-seven-day money-back period under Wondershare’s data-recovery refund rules. Approval depends on the accepted policy conditions and should not be treated as an unconditional refund.
Choose Essential for normal drive and file recovery. Choose Standard when you need to recover data from a computer that will not start. Choose Premium for advanced photo and video recovery, file repair, NAS, Linux, and supported RAID recovery.
Premium is worth the upgrade when you are recovering fragmented video, camera or drone footage, damaged photos, Linux storage, NAS data, or a supported RAID. It is unnecessary for ordinary document recovery from a working drive.
It can recover permanently deleted files when the original storage blocks have not been overwritten, cleared by SSD TRIM, securely erased, or made inaccessible through lost encryption keys.
Yes, Recoverit can scan formatted drives and memory cards. Recovery depends on the type of format and whether new data was written afterwards.
Recoverit can scan SSDs, but deleted-file recovery may be prevented by TRIM, encryption, and internal garbage collection. Stop using the SSD immediately and check backups first.
Software may help with logical damage when the drive remains stable and readable. A drive that clicks, overheats, repeatedly disconnects, or has suffered physical impact should be handled by a professional recovery service.
It can scan formatted SD cards and use enhanced recovery to identify and combine video fragments. Results depend on whether the card was reused and whether all required fragments remain intact.
Premium includes video repair and advanced repair using a healthy sample file. Repair can fix certain structural problems but cannot recreate portions that were overwritten.
Standard and Premium include bootable recovery tools for computers that will not start normally. The internal storage must still be readable.
Premium includes recovery from supported NAS systems through compatible network workflows. Check NAS snapshots, recycle bins, and backups before running a recovery scan.
Premium supports several Linux file systems, including EXT4, BTRFS, XFS, and BFS according to Wondershare’s current product pages.
Premium advertises recovery from supported RAID-corruption scenarios. Complex arrays with missing or physically failing disks may require specialist recovery tools or a professional laboratory.
It can preserve names and folders when the original file-system metadata remains intact. Files found only through signature scanning may return with generic names and reduced folder information.
Avoid doing so. Installation can overwrite deleted data. Install it on another drive or computer and save recovered files to a separate physical device.
Recoverit is stronger for fragmented video, media repair, cameras, Linux, and NAS workflows. EaseUS has a simpler general consumer plan structure and a larger promoted maximum free allowance.
Recoverit is stronger for integrated media recovery and repair. Disk Drill has clearer cross-platform licensing, covers up to three activations, and includes stronger preventive and disk-management tools.
Recoverit Premium is particularly attractive for camera and fragmented-video recovery. Stellar offers a more traditional tier structure and a larger standard Free allowance, but its advanced features are also divided across editions.
Recoverit is much broader, supporting Mac, formatted storage, crashed systems, cameras, NAS, Linux, and media repair. Recuva is better for a simple free Windows undelete job.
Recoverit is easier to use and offers previews, filtering, original folder recovery when metadata survives, and media repair. PhotoRec is completely free but commonly returns files with generic names and no original folder structure.

Final Verdict: Is Wondershare Recoverit Worth It?
Wondershare Recoverit is worth considering when the lost files are photographs, videos, camera recordings, drone footage, or other media that may require both recovery and repair.
It is not automatically the best choice for a simple deleted Word file. Recuva may handle an ordinary Windows deletion for free. EaseUS offers a similarly easy general recovery process. Disk Drill has clearer cross-platform licensing and stronger preventive tools. R-Studio gives experts more technical control.
Recoverit becomes more persuasive as the recovery grows more specialised.
- Essential is suitable for normal file, drive, USB, disk-image, and SD-card recovery.
- Standard is useful primarily when the computer will not boot and bootable recovery media is required.
- Premium is the edition worth considering for cameras, fragmented video, file repair, Linux, NAS, and supported RAID recovery.
The software’s biggest weakness is not its interface or feature coverage. It is the buying experience. Pricing pages currently disagree about free limits, list prices, promotional prices, computer counts, and perpetual-license updates.
Our recommendation is to download Recoverit Free, complete the scan, preview several important files, and take a screenshot of the plan and price displayed at checkout. Remove unnecessary add-ons, check whether renewal is enabled, and upgrade only when the software shows credible evidence that it can restore the data you actually need.
