Apple launched the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s plus at the beginning of September 2015. These were the first iPhones with a newer design and feel. Moreover, a lot was changed from the power button location to the sleek body design and a better edge-to-edge screen from the iPhone 5 Series.
Apple has also fairly supported the older models to get the IOS 14 update; IOS 13 should have been the last update for iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and iPhone SE. But surprisingly, IOS 14 update was also released for these 2015 models.
Apple officially announced that IOS 15 would be the last major update for iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s plus, and the first-generation iPhone SE from 2015.

Final Words | iOS 15 Support Devices
IOS 15 will support the iPhone 6 series, and there is no doubt this will be the last major iOS update on the iPhone 6 series and the first-generation SE devices. There are many more features coming to iOS 15, such as improved maps and a better UI and UX. However, not all the features will be available for all the countries, such as AR maps in Apple are only limited to 7 places which will significantly grow in number.
iOS 15 is expected to release in the second half of September and is currently in beta mode. If you are an apple beta tester, you can run iOS 15 beta on your iPhone before the official release. Additionally, you can also run the beta apps on your iPhone using Testflight and check if they are compatible with iOS 15.
